Our Mahi

  • Māori Wardens offer a range of support to local and national events. We are able to support your event with car parking, traffic control and STMS support.

  • Peace keeping including regular patrols is a service that our Māori Wardens do in their day to day work. We are able to provide this service with experience to de-escalate situations, deter crime and call emergency services when needed, with a direct line to the Police.

  • With a bunch of our Māori Wardens trained in security we offer this service to provide extra reliability to our clients at their events, functions and hui.

  • Our wardens are trained in circumstances to which we are able to provide the best crowd control support that we can at local and national events.

  • Our Māori Wardens are trained in Controlled Incident Management, supporting emergency services carry out the important work to ensure people are safe in a time of distress, need, and uncertainty.

Waiariki District is solely governed by the National Māori Wardens Authority which operates under the legislation of the Māori Community Development Act 1962 which gives our warranted Māori Wardens the powers of which they carry out of care and protection, peace keeping and other powers which the act allows them to enforce.

The Waiariki District is a cohesive collective of Māori Wardens groups from Kawerau, Whakatane, Rotorua, Taneatua, Opotiki, Murupara, and Taupo coming together to support each other when and where needed coordinated by a strong leadership team currently run from the Rotorua office.

We are always looking for people to join us who are wanting to give back to their community. Nau mai!
